BLACK WOMEN IN JAPAN
With over 2,000 members from over a dozen countries, our community has helped women of African descent thrive in Japan without that feeling of isolation. We are looking forward to continuing to strengthen this sisterhood with events like regular meetups and our annual convention while giving our members the tools to contribute to their adopted communities here in Japan. We also have a Big Sister Little Sister Mentorship Programme that connects black women who are currently living in Japan on a more personal and intimate level
About the Convention
The Black Women in Japan Convention is our main event and provides the stage for BWIJ members to meet and connect on a personal level. This event fosters career enhancement and personal development related to life in Japan. BWIJ aims to create a space for fellowship, networking, and business support while celebrating the diverse sisterhood of the African diaspora and Japanese culture.
This year, our 4-day 2019 convention will be held in Kobe! Starting on Friday with a pre-event dinner to meet your fellow conference attendees, then leading into Saturday where we will host amazing workshops and presentations catering to both women's professional and personal needs, and finishing on Sunday. For those who are exploring Kobe for the first time, Monday will be filled with cultural tours and taiken activities.
